Wine dinner with Irene Gori

Wine dinners continue at Forest Side on Wednesday, 05th September, at 7.00pm, with an intimate evening hosted by Irene Gori, from Vignamaggio, Tuscany, Italy.

Vignamaggio is a magnificent 14th century estate which lies between the Italian towns of Florence and Siena in the picturesque, rolling hills of Tuscany’s Chianti region, famed for its red wines.

While Chianti Classico red wines have earned the estate world-wide renown, Vignamaggio is legendary for other reasons too. It is said that Mona Lisa (Lisa Gherardini), Leonardo da Vinci’s muse, was a member of the family that built the Villa and she lived there for a part of her life. Today Vignamaggio’s finest Chianti is named in her honour. Official documents show that Vignamaggio has been producing wine since 1404, more than 600 years in wine production!

Today the estate makes organic wines reflecting both the traditions and potential of the Chianti terroir, using traditional local grapes such as Sangiovese, while others include proportions of international grapes, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Vignamaggio also makes tiny amounts of the delectable dessert wine Vin Santo.

Join Irene Gori in Forest Side’s Private Dining Room, as she introduces Vinamaggio’s wines on Wednesday 05th September 2018.

The evening starts at 7.00pm with a glass of fizz in the bar, giving up to eight guests the opportunity to mingle before sitting down with Irene to enjoy dinner and a selection of wines from the estate.

The event is priced at £135 per person, which includes a six-course dinner specially created for the occasion by Forest Side’s Head Chef Kevin Tickle and matched wines from Vinamaggio.
