Forest Side retains its Michelin star for a second year
The Forest Side in Grasmere has successfully retained its Michelin star for a second year.
First awarded a coveted star in 2016, in the restaurant’s first year of opening, Head Chef Kevin Tickle and his dedicated team have remained committed to producing fantastic food in beautiful surroundings.
Grasmere had been without a Michelin star since 2002, but Forest Side has been recognised for a second year, testament to the excellent standards that Chef Kevin Tickle, Restaurant Manager Gareth Newton, and Head Sommelier Charles Carron Brown maintain each day.
Head Chef Kevin Tickle, said: ”Being awarded a Michelin star in our first year of opening took us by complete surprise. To retain our star after months of hard work is fantastic. My team and I have a lot of fun in the kitchen, creating imaginative dishes using food from the landscape around Forest Side, and it is an honour to be recognised by the most prestigious food awards in the world.”
Hotel Owner Andrew Wildsmith, said: ”I am very proud of the team at Forest Side for the experience they have developed at the hotel. Grasmere is beautiful and we aim to reflect the atmosphere and calm of the Lake District throughout the hotel and restaurant. To win a Michelin star takes a great deal of precision and rigour and the team deserve this very much.”
