The Forest Side Hotel & Restaurant Awarded an Editor’s Choice Award
The Forest Side in Grasmere, awarded an Editor’s Choice by The Good Hotel Guide 2017.
The editorial team have credited the foodie hotspot as ‘This Year’s Discovery’.
Each year the Guide team make a number of editor’s choice selections across 16 categories, across a diverse range of categories, including romantic, value, gardens and weddings to gastro-pubs, seaside, walking and dog-friendly.
Alongside the Editor’s Choice selections, this year’s Guide features 414 main entries and 411 hotels in the shortlist section, all designed to help you find the perfect place to stay.
The independent publication co-edited by Adam Raphael and M. Astella Saw, is an unbiased selection of the best hotels, inns and B&Bs from across the UK and Ireland.
Hotels are chosen solely on merit and the entries are rewritten each year. Readers’ reports are painstakingly scrutinised, and reports from inspectors are based on anonymous visits, the cost of which are borne by the Guide, so reviews are never swayed by special treatment.
M. Astella Saw, Editor, of The Good Hotel Guide, said: ‘’The hotel was a clear nominee for a Discovery award, as it’s one of the best new hotels we’ve come across in the past year. Guide readers were as impressed by the rural setting and chic yet relaxing atmosphere as they were by the superb team of staff on site. Noteworthy, too, are Kevin Tickle’s modern menus, and the impressive garden that supplies the kitchen. We love the commitment to hyper-local flavours, which our readers found more than philosophically satisfying – we were told the meals are absolutely beautiful.’’
Hotel owner Andrew Wildsmith, said: ‘’The entire team is extremely pleased to have been chosen by The Guide’s editorial panel as ‘This Year’s Discovery’. This is yet further recognition of the hard work and dedication of everyone in making the Forest Side a must stay location in the UK, whilst further helping to raise the profile of the Lake District and Cumbria.’’
