An Evening Of Poetry With Christopher Wordsworth
Join Christopher Wordsworth, the great-great-great-great-grandson of Britain’s most loved poet William Wordsworth, for an evening of exemplary food, glorious wine and poetic insight, on Wednesday 06th September, at Grasmere’s Forest Side.
Wordsworth will chat about his ancestor’s poems and longstanding love affair with the Lake District, which influenced much of his work, as well as reading several carefully selected poems from the Romantic Movement, including several by his celebrated ancestor during the evening.
As a happy coincidence 2017 marks the 210th anniversary since the first publication of Wordsworth’s ‘Daffodils’ as it has come to be known one of many poems found in his work ‘Poems, in Two Volumes’.
Alongside this Forest Side’s head chef Kevin Tickle will create a unique six course menu, paired with accompanying wines chosen by Forest Side’s head sommelier Charles Carron Brown.
Join us for what promises to be an insightful discovery of both Wordsworth’s work and that of his fellow Romantic Poets, a unique perspective and insight into the great man’s work and that of his colleagues, which over the centuries have had such a dramatic impact on Britain’s literary heritage.
Dinner is priced at £145 per person and will be hosted in the Forest Side’s Private Dining room for up to 8 guests. The evening starts at 7pm with a glass of fizz, giving guests the opportunity to mingle before sitting down with Christopher to enjoy a convivial and informative evening and of course a specially prepared menu created by Kevin Tickle with accompanying wines, coffee and petit fours.
