Alex Nietosvuori & Ally Thompson – Restaurant Hjem
The dream project of Swedish Chef Alex and his Northumberland-born Ally, Hjem is the Northumberland and Scandinavian word for “Home”. The duo creates an experience which sees the very best produce from Northumberland come together with Scandinavian values and cooking techniques.
Swedish Chef Alex , has worked at some of Scandinavia’s most celebrated restaurants including Copenhagen Restaurant BROR, 3 Michelin Star Maaemo in Oslo, 2 Michelin Star, Daniel Berlin Krog in Skåne Tranås. Alex has staged in celebrated restaurants Faviken, Restaurant Frantzen and Operakällaren in Sweden, spent three months at Rodolfo Gusman’s Restaurant Borago in Chile and worked with Tom Anglesea’s The Laughing Heart in London.
Ally who heads up front of house at Hjem, Northumberland-born Ally moved to Copenhagen to manage Restaurant BROR and Restaurant Ante. Moving back to the UK in 2016 to work for Galvin at Restaurants in London and Noutboune Restaurant in Battersea.
